Cougars, Coyotes and Bears Oh My!

We live in a society that has made it extremely difficult for ranchers to get a handle on predator problems. From PETA to the PTA our society has taken these animals and put a romantic spin on the coyote howling at the moon to making bears into friendly neighborhood buddies and cougars the logo of many sports teams. People outside of ranching just can’t imagine “Wiley” coyote tearing apart a baby calf and the cute bear is capable of tearing a cow apart.

Our predator problems are still with us and getting more difficult by the moment to control, as society and our government put limits on our means to take care of the situation. In the next three articles we hope that we can shed some light on ways to handle your predator problems and answer questions that may have come up. What you won’t find are the graphic photos of just what these predators leave after they make a kill or maim a cow. Heaven forbid that the magazine fall into the wrong hands and we’re taken to task for making the cute little animals look bad.
